It has finally become somewhat wintery in the Valley of the Sun. In other words, we have sunny skies and temps in the mid-60s. There are so many places to explore around here. We ventured out past Apache Junction to The Lost Dutchman State Park. Great hike. Spectacular views.
What seems a little different to me about desert hikes in general is that the trailhead itself is not that impressive. But round a corner or two, and suddenly you feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere (which you could be) and the payoff can be stunning.
